It’s #NationalJukeboxDay and in my head, I am totally rockin’ out. From blossoming love, to break up songs, music tugs at our hearts and our memories. For me, every time I hear the word Jukebox I find myself back on Christmas morning in 1981. I realize I am about to date myself by saying this, but I got my first 8 Track Tape Player, which included none other than Foreigner 4. I can still remember the songs like Urgent that got my blood pumping, and Waiting for a Girl Like You, that made my heart flutter. #DontJudge.
But the song that made me think of my Dreams, and never wanting to let them go was Jukebox Hero. (I included the link for the video but I promise you the 8 Track version was waaay better than this live version… ) You might remember some of the words:
“So, he started rockin’,
ain’t never gonna stop,
Gotta keep on rockin’,
someday gonna make it to the top….”
You started singing it too, didn’t you? If you were listening to music during this era you know that this song became the anthem for all those who wanted to #RockThatDream during the 80’s. With its rock beat and heavy instruments, the song reminded us every day to keep on chasing our Dreams and become our own Jukebox Hero.
So, in celebration of #NationalJukeboxDay, I want to remind all of you, that it is never too late to get to #RockThatDream Ridge. You just need to Believe in yourself and your Dreams, just like the star in Jukebox Hero. He was inspired by a guitar he didn’t know how to play, but his Determination and commitment to reaching his goal kept him focused.
As you know I set a #12Books12Months goal this year and although the road was rocky, on 11/12 @12:12pm, Book #12 was launched. You have to keep the vision in front of you. For me, scheduling the individual launch dates on the 12th of each month was a constant reminder that people were waiting, and that the words must be written.
I may not be an actual Jukebox Hero, but I want to be your Inspirational Hero. You know, the one whose positive messages, if they were inside a Jukebox, would have the buttons worn out on from so many people playing it over and over again. (I can Dream can’t I?)
So, let me encourage you to find your #BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal). Pick something you really have to stretch for and remember… [Tweet “If you know you can achieve it, it isn’t a #BHAG!”] Be prepared for the hurdles because they will come, but commit to your success and the relentless pursuit of your Dreams.
