Today is #LoveYourRedHairDay so it seems that we should talk about some famous Redheads and although the most notable to me is Lucille Ball, I want to talk about a younger red-headed icon… Ron Weasley.
If you are a Harry Potter fan, you know Ron, but if somehow you missed the pop culture phenomena, Ron Weasley is the youngest son of the Weasley clan with 5 older brothers and a younger sister. The Weasley’s are a frugal and happy family, but Ron often questions himself and feels insecure.
Draco Malfoy, one of the main antagonists in the series, insulted Ron before they were ever officially introduced. With a mocking and condescending tone, he spewed this famous line:
“Red hair and a hand-me-down robe… you must be a Weasley.”
During the scene, Ron looked down in momentary Shame accepting the derogatory comment as if it were some twisted truth about him. If you have read Evict the Bully in Your Head, you know the way to handle the Bullies is to engage the Headspace Heroes like Confidence and Courage so you can recognize your value and own who you are. When we choose to believe the negativity others throw at us, we are feeding into the lie and allowing the Bully Brigade to stay entrenched in our minds.
We have been infected with NES (Not Enough Syndrome), and are buying into the bull that we are Not Good Enough, Not Smart Enough, Not Pretty Enough or Not Whatever Enough. The truth is, #YouAreEnough… just the way you are and finding friends that are willing to remind you about that is valuable. But, finding friends who will stand behind you, or better yet are willing to step ahead and fight for you, is priceless.
Just like Harry, Ron & Hermione accepted and encouraged each other, it is important that you find those special people in your life who love and support you without trying to change who you are. Finding your Tribe, means spending time with people who appreciate who you are, not just who you know or what you can do. These chosen few, will value and inspire you to become the best version of yourself.
Ron had some Bullies partying at his place but in the end, the Headspace Heroes came to the rescue as Loyalty, Honor and Integrity held his commitment level high and Belief, Determination, Faith & Friendship helped him stay the course.
The entire #12Books12Months series was written to help you reach for your Dreams instead of watching other people achieve theirs while you stand alone on the sidelines. When you believe in yourself, there are no facades blocking your view of #RockThatDream Ridge so you can set a direct course to get there. When you stop along your journey to add people to your inner circle, #RockItLikeARedhead and do it Ron Weasley style. Choose those that are loyal, true and if possible know how wield a wand!
